kyoko gasha's biography



 

Kyoko Gasha is a TV correspondent for Reuters in New York. In her more than 15 years of experience as a journalist, Kyoko has reported on a broad range of major events in Japan and around the world, including the Kobe Earthquake in 1995 and the Peru Hostage Crisis in 1997. She has interviewed athletes as well as political figures, including former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Gasha started her career as a reporter for TV Tokyo, one of five commercial networks in Japan. During those years, she directed documentaries and feature stories about aging and declining birth rates in Japan. She joined Reuters America covering the American economy and business. Kyoko received a BA in Spanish at Sophia University in Japan and, later, she was a Fulbright Scholar for the mid-career journalist program at the University of Michigan. She also received her MS in Teaching from Fordham University in 2004.
